The club is always keen to encourage and support those new to bowling. If you wish to have a go, please contact the club on 01733 566709, to arrange a visit. There’s no cost to try your hand at bowling and have a tour of the facilities. There’s plenty of secure, free parking on site and equipment will be provided as well as guidance by an experienced bowler.
Rink availability – The Bowlr website shows when rinks are available for use and allows members to book the rinks online. Each session last 1hour 55 mins, with a rink fee of £3.00 for members paid at the time of playing.
Coaching
The Club has a coaching program for new bowlers and coaching sessions take place on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm and last for 6 weeks. If you or anyone you know would like to participate you must first book a place on a course by calling Martin Bunning on 07879 853349
We also have a course for established bowlers who would like to improve their game. You can book a place on this course by calling Tony Barclay on 07841 830252.
Dress code
1 When in the main bowls hall and taking part in club league games, club knockout competitions or representing the club members, shall always, conform to the following standards of dress when playing, marking or umpiring.
2 SHOES
Footwear must be flat-soled (heel-less and tread-less) manufactured bowling shoes. Shoes must be used exclusively for bowling and must not be worn to enter the premises.
3 TOPS
ACCEPTABLE
a. Shirts must have a collar and be predominantly white.
b. Regulation P & D BC shirts
c. Team shirts, approved by the Club Committee, provided the same is worn by all team members.
d. County or other team regulation shirt provided the same is worn by all team members.
e. Pullovers / sweaters / jackets must be predominantly white.
UNACCEPTABLE
f. T- shirts and sweat-shirts.
g. Team shirts from other clubs, unless worn when playing on their behalf.
4 TROUSERS and SKIRTS
ACCEPTABLE
a. Plain grey, black or white trousers; tailored shorts, according to the requirements of the competition.
b. Grey, black or white skirts.
UNACCEPTABLE
c. Cargo style trousers and shorts.
d. Leggings.
e. Grey or coloured jeans.
Roll-ups
Rollups are enjoyable semi-organised games where you meet and play other members of the club in an informal way and sessions are allocated every week, on the rinks schedule, to accommodate these so that there is no need to pre-book. Please arrive 15 Minutes before the start to register.
Friendlies
During the Indoor season (September to March) the Club takes part in Friendly matches against other Clubs in the area, playing home and away at Clubs like Spalding, Stamford, Huntingdon, and Whittlesey. New members are very welcome and encouraged to play in these as they offer an entertaining day out, are a lot of fun, and provide a great way to meet other bowlers on top of providing an opportunity to experience bowling on different greens. All details of these games are posted on Bowlr and the Club notice boards by the Indoor changing rooms.
Subscription
Annual bowls membership, which runs from 1 September to 31 August and includes both indoor and outdoor greens.
Membership costs £60 adults, £16 for under 18’s and Social membership is £20. Further details are available on the web site and and an application form can be downloaded below.
